Hours Lifeguards work on average of 5-10 hours per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
Job Description
The Aquatics Center Lifeguard is responsible for all personnel and staffing with lifeguards, providing excellent customer service while actively supervising and assisting pool participants; enforcing policies and procedures; maintaining a clean, organized pool, and responding to emergencies. Department Aquatics Required Qualifications This position is open to both work-study eligible and non-work-study eligible students. Successful applicants must complete Adult CPR, AED, and First AID certification courses within 8 weeks of beginning employment, or provide documentation that this has previously been completed. Certification sessions will be provided by the University Centers. These certifications must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers. Applicants must also complete blood-borne pathogen training upon hire. Valid American Red Cross lifeguard certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP. Education Lifeguards must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
