About the role

The teacher will deliver a comprehensive academic and physical education experience to grade school students, utilizing the Archdiocesan and State of Maryland curriculum. Responsibilities include planning instruction, fostering a learning environment that promotes healthy body function and exercise, and maintaining accurate student records.

Mary’s Catholic School in Hagerstown, Maryland, is seeking a qualified Physical Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.

The Physical Education Teacher will provide grade school students a comprehensive academic and physical experience using the Archdiocesan and State of Maryland Physical Education curriculum.

She/he is responsible for creating a learning environment that fosters, promotes, and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function exercise, and athletics.

This is a part-time 10-month position working 24 hours per week.

Essential Functions

Maintains high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Plans and implements instructional programs with clear objectives in line with the Archdiocese of Baltimore and State of Maryland Standards.

Creates an instructional environment conducive to learning.

Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, in a timely manner.

Teach physical fitness, individual and team sports, utilizing appropriate learning activities.

Motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment that discovers and develop talents of students in physical achievement.

Communicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents through email, phone calls, conferences, and electronic grade book.

Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom.

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

MSDE Certification or the willingness to obtain certification, required.

Classroom teaching experience preferred.

Proficient in using a variety of technology.

Pay Range

$25,000 - $35,000, Annualized

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.

Benefits

We offer a generous paid sick leave benefit with this position, and employee automatic enrollment in the 403(b) plan.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree and MSDE Certification (or willingness to obtain it) are required for this part-time, 10-month position. Classroom teaching experience and proficiency in using various technologies are preferred.
