Position Summary

Western Medical Training Center is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician Instructor to support the delivery of our pharmacy technician training program. The instructor will provide classroom instruction, hands-on lab training, and student mentorship to prepare students for entry-level pharmacy technician roles in retail, hospital, and clinical pharmacy settings. This role is ideal for an experienced pharmacy professional who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Development Deliver engaging pharmacy technician instruction in both online and in-person settings Teach core topics including: Pharmacy operations Medication safety Prescription processing Pharmacy calculations Drug classifications Inventory management Patient interaction and professionalism Facilitate hands-on training in lab environments simulating real pharmacy workflows Demonstrate proper pharmacy procedures including: Prescription intake and data entry Medication preparation and labeling Dosage calculations Inventory and medication storage protocols Prepare students for national certification exams (PTCB or NHA ExCPT)

Lab Instruction & Skills Evaluation Supervise and facilitate pharmacy lab sessions Demonstrate proper techniques for: Prescription processing workflows Medication packaging and labeling Pharmacy calculations Pharmacy software simulation Evaluate student competency using structured skills assessments Maintain lab safety and compliance standards

Student Support & Mentorship Provide academic guidance and encouragement to students Track student attendance, progress, and competency Maintain documentation of student development using Microsoft Teams and OneNote Support students with career readiness and professional expectations

Program Quality & Compliance Deliver instruction aligned with national certification curriculum standards Maintain high educational and professional standards Participate in instructor meetings and training as needed Ensure classroom and lab operations meet WMTC standards

Qualifications

Required Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA ExCPT) Minimum 2 years pharmacy technician experience Experience working in retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or clinical pharmacy Strong communication and teaching ability Passion for workforce development and student success Ability to demonstrate pharmacy procedures clearly and safely

Preferred Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience Experience preparing students for Pharmacy Technician Certification Exams Experience using Microsoft Teams, online learning platforms, or hybrid instruction Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
