Lead Infant Teacher Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Instruction
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and daily routines using the Wonder of Learning® curriculum, with a strong focus on infant development, sensory exploration, and responsive caregiving
- Individualize care to meet each infant’s developmental needs, schedules, and milestones
- Classroom Leadership & Management
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive infant classroom environment
- Lead daily caregiving routines including feeding, diapering, naps, and play
- Mentor and support Assistant Teachers and Resource Teachers
- Family Communication
- Build strong, trusting relationships with families
- Communicate daily regarding feeding, sleep, milestones, and developmental progress
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and Goddard policies
- Maintain accurate classroom documentation and records
- Assessment & Documentation
- Observe, assess, and document infant development to guide instruction and share progress with families
- Professional Growth & Collaboration
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
- Collaborate positively with leadership and fellow educators
- Positive Guidance
- Model and implement positive, responsive caregiving and guidance strategies to support social-emotional development
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- CDA (Infant/Toddler preferred)
- 1–2 years of experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting preferred
- Completion of state-required pre-service training
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and team members
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in connection with caring for children
