High School teachers provide standards-based direct and targeted instruction in virtual classrooms, support students with coursework, and offer one-to-one assistance, while also building relationships with homeroom students through daily sessions and consistent outreach. They are responsible for grading work promptly, monitoring student progress and engagement, communicating with families, and participating in required professional activities and state testing proctoring.
Applicants must possess a valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics and a California English Learner Authorization, and must permanently reside in one of the 42 serviced counties in California. A Bachelor's degree is required, along with strong content knowledge, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in the MS Office Suite.

The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log into the online school daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions.
Teachers hold parent/teacher/student conferences quarterly, attend virtual meetings, and participate in PLCs, data conferencing, and professional development, both virtually and in-person. Teachers may meet with their students face-to-face for tutoring and at other in-person opportunities. All teachers are required to proctor state testing.
Full time teachers work Monday-Friday from 8: 30am-4:00pm You are not allowed to have another job during contracted hours
Full Time High School Teachers: Annual salary based on holding a Bachelors or Masters Degree and up to 3 years of experience in California

Job Title: High School Teacher- Math
Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our teachers, therefore, need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach.
Our Virtual High School Teachers are responsible for ensuring that students achieve mastery of learning objectives. They provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process and focus on students’ individual needs. The Virtual Teacher is a highly qualified instructional teacher responsible for the delivery of specified course content in an online, virtual environment.
Teachers will be expected to help with the planning and delivery of Parent Orientations. This will entail contacting the families of assigned students, participating in and attending the event(s), and following up with families to ensure they are prepared for the start of school. Orientations will run during the end of the summer. Additionally, teachers are expected to participate actively in and attend High School Hangouts, Graduation, outings, and other in person events for students and families throughout the year.
Students will be assigned to teachers by the Director or designee according to a number of variables. In general, the Director or designee will look to assign students by geographical location and/or grade level. Full time classes will be filled prior to assigning students to part time teachers. When appropriate, students from the same family will be assigned to a single teacher.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and experience using a student information system and/or other type of database software. Experience moderating web meetings (Blackboard Collaborate, Webinar, Webex) for small and large groups.

This position is a virtual position working from a home office. Must have ability to travel throughout the school year within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, proctor state exams and participate in school activities and orientations.
