  • Education: Provide comprehensive diabetes education and counseling to pregnant patients for managing gestational diabetes, focusing on nutrition, medication management, insulin administration, and lifestyle changes.

  • Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to diabetes management.

  • Management: Guide patients through diabetes self-management techniques, including blood glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting, and exercise plans, to help them achieve better control over their health.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or eligibility to sit for the exam. Experience counseling for and managing gestational diabetes within an MFM department and/or an Endocrine practice. Strong knowledge of diabetes self-management practices and patient education techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for patient-centered care. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a Diabetes Educator. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, such as ECW or similar. Bilingual skills (Spanish or Yiddish) are a plus.
