About the role

The Teaching Assistant will assist faculty in teaching and evaluating course content, including basic EMS skills, under the direction of the course faculty member. Responsibilities also include setting up and dismantling laboratory supplies and equipment and interacting professionally with Nevada State EMS representatives.

Job Description

This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish an applicant pool. As vacancies occur, they are filled from the pool.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, other TAs, staff, and students.
  • Hold current EMS certification (card required).
  • Hold current CPR Certification (card required) through the American Heart Association (Health Care Provider) or American Red Cross (Professional Rescue/Health Care Provider).
  • A valid driver's license, clear driving record, and EVOC training certificate required, if operating the ambulance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching EMS content and EMS skills
  • A minimum of three years recent experience as a basic EMT, paramedic or advanced EMT
  • Current EMS instructor certification

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty to teach and evaluate course content, including basic EMS skills, under the direction of the course faculty member.
  • Assist course faculty member to set up and dismantle laboratory supplies and equipment in the agreed upon storage area.
  • Interact professionally with representatives from the Nevada State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to help ensure student eligibility for EMS certification in the State of Nevada.
  • Submit time card to course faculty member on an agreed upon schedule.
