• Academies of Math and Science – Nellis Campus Middle School Humanities Teacher (Grades 5–8) – 2026–2027 School Year Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156 Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE) Start Date: Summer 2026 Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
• AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven Middle School Humanities Teacher (Grades 5–8) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas for the 2026–2027 school year.
• The Middle School Humanities Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, reading, writing, and social studies, helping scholars develop strong literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• The ideal candidate will create an engaging and structured learning environment that prepares students for high school success and beyond.

• Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Achievement Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned humanities instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Nevada Academic Content Standards.
• Teach core subjects including English Language Arts, reading comprehension, writing, and social studies.
• Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
• Develop students’ critical thinking, writing, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning skills.
• Classroom Culture & Student Development Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
• Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
• Encourage student voice, discussion, and engagement in learning.
• Collaboration & Professional Growth Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership to strengthen instructional practices.
• Use student performance data to support instructional improvement and targeted interventions.
• Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.
• Family Engagement Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home–school partnerships.
• Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements: Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) (or ability to obtain prior to start date) Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, History, or a related field Additionally, candidates must: Demonstrate strong classroom management skills Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment Successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Nevada state requirements

Preferred Qualifications
