This position is responsible for the instruction of students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on the YMCA Swim Lesson curriculum.

  • FUNCTIONS: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse risk management training. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Provide swim instruction based on the YMCA curriculum. Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Assist lifeguards in the event of an emergency. Evaluate student progress by keeping records as required. Interact with guardians on the activities and development of students. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment. Child Abuse Prevention training required before/on first day of working with consumers. At least 15 years of age YSL certified or willing to be certified. Swimming or teaching experience preferred.
