The instructor leads inclusive, high-quality group fitness and evidence-based health programs supporting chronic disease prevention and overall wellness in a welcoming environment. Essential functions include leading energizing classes, offering appropriate exercise modifications, assisting with program evaluations, and building authentic relationships with members.
Candidates must possess required certifications, including CPR, First Aid, AED, and Group Exercise Certification (or obtain the latter within 90 days of hire). Experience instructing group exercise-based classes is required, along with the physical ability to conduct all aspects of the position, including leading classes and lifting.
The Community Health Group Exercise Instructor leads inclusive, high-quality group fitness and evidence-based health programs that support chronic disease prevention and overall wellness. 1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, Group Exercise Certification (or within 90 days of being hired). 2. Successfully complete the program training(s) upon being hired. 3. Experience of instructing group exercise-based classes.

CPR & First Aid – Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives. Emergency Response – Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures. Incident Management – Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors. Safe Environment – Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants. Physical Readiness – Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities. Compliance – Follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
