Speech Language Pathologists assess and treat students with various communication disorders impacting educational learning, utilizing current assessment instruments to determine student skills and abilities. They provide age-appropriate intervention, gather information for educationally-based Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates.
Applicants must possess a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology and hold a current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License as a Speech Language Pathologist. A minimum of two years of experience with speech language and communication assessments for special education-eligible students is required, along with a commitment to racial and educational excellence.
Assesses and treats District students with language, pragmatics, articulation, functional communication, voice, and fluency disorders that impact educational learning. Works as part of the Special Education Team, identifying and serving students who may be eligible for Special Education Services in schools across all grade levels. Denver Public Schools SLPs must be willing and able to work at any school across the district, as well as in any of DPS’s partner facilities. Assignments are based on student needs, and SLP assignment preferences are considered when possible.
