The Upper School Spanish Instructor is responsible for providing meaningful instruction in Spanish for Grades 9-12, utilizing innovative teaching methods and creating well-planned units focused on real-world applications. The instructor will also maintain accurate records of student performance and nurture the social and emotional needs of each student.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Spanish, Linguistics, World Languages, or a related field, along with teaching experience and proficiency with technological tools. Cultural background or experience in Latin/Hispanic contexts is also preferred.
Description Established in 1972, Mount Vernon School serves over 1,250 students in Preschool through Grade 12 on our 40-acre Atlanta campus. Provide meaningful instruction in Grades 9-12 Spanish using a variety of research-based and innovative teaching methods Create well-planned nine-week units with a focus on problem-solving, and application Create differentiated lessons to match the needs of each student in the classroom Connect real-world learning with world language, both in instruction and practice Timely maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of each student's performance and progress & communication with students/families pertaining to progress Care and nurture for the social and emotional needs of each student Maintenance of an organized, inviting, and student-centered learning environment Participation in duties (e.g. lunch, enrichment and carpool) and others as assigned Possess strong character with an absolute drive for excellence, a team-oriented spirit, and a commitment to meeting the learning and social-emotional needs of students Core Competencies Culturally proficient & equity literate Ability to cultivate respectful and affirming environments A track record of giving high-quality, Responsive Feedback Understanding of Competency-Based Assessment/Mastery Approach to Learning Proficiency in Google Suite & Mac/Apple OS
