This role serves as a liaison between District staff and students or parents whose primary language is not English during the Summer Learning Academy. The mentor will also provide academic assistance to students in the ESL program and interpret for students, parents, and teachers.
Requirements summary
Minimum Qualifications
require an Associate’s degree, two years of college (48 semester hours), or a passing ParaPro Assessment score, or equivalent experience. Relevant experience includes one year or more in translating and/or mentoring, preferably working with students in a bilingual instructional setting.

Purpose and Scope This position is responsible for professional instructions during summer school designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate. Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement. The following special conditions are required: Commitment for the entire period of summer school and attendance at the Summer School graduation. May involve missing some district training opportunities. Attendance at ALL preparatory planning sessions and periodic administrative meetings. Availability prior to the end of the regular school assignment contract to participate in summer school setup and preparation. Availability for summer school closeout operations which may occur after the new academic year contract has started. This position is for SUMMER SCHOOL ONLY. LEVEL 4/5 TEACHERS ARE PREFERRED
