  • Our school is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm and follows a school calendar, including a summer session.
  • The Teaching Assistant is an entry level position that works closely with the Special Education Teacher in a classroom of approximately 5 students who have multiple disabilities, moderate to severe developmental delays, and complex medical needs.
  • The Teaching Assistant’s responsibilities include assisting our special education teachers and school therapists with implementation of IEP goals and objectives, as well as helping with classroom activities and maintaining a clean and neat classroom environment.
  • This position will support the physical and minimal health needs of our students which may include lifting, positioning, seating, feeding, toileting/diapering, and mobility.
  • The Teaching Assistant works closely with parents/guardians, and a team of experienced, caring, dedicated staff including a Special Education teacher, classroom nurse, and other therapists all sharing a passion for working with students with special needs.
  • This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED Interest in working with children with special needs. Prior experience working with students with disabilities is a plus. Training or coursework in special education preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to use technology effectively. Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues. Suitable background and fingerprint checks. Mostly active - must be able to sit, bend, kneel and lift 25 pounds.
