Deliver medical assistant curriculum through various teaching modalities and provide academic advising to students. Participate in professional development and institutional service to maintain program accreditation and quality.
Requires an associate degree in nursing, health, or education and at least 3 years of current clinical work experience in healthcare. Preference is given to candidates with a bachelor's degree and certification as a medical assistant or registered nurse in Texas.
SUMMARY Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role of the Instructional Faculty encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development and institutional and community service.
is expected to teach a full load each semester as defined in the Faculty Workload Guidelines. Demonstrate expertise and experience in classroom teaching. Faculty may be required to teach at various locations in the District; including, but not limited to, dual credit sections at partner school districts. Faculty may be assigned to teach in the modalities of face-to-face, hybrid, online (synchronous or asynchronous), or any combination of modalities.

EDUCATION Associate’s degree in nursing, health, education, technology related field required.
Bachelor’s degree in aforementioned qualifying fields preferred.
Allied Health Practitioner currently a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant or currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas at time of application preferred.
Copy of transcript conferring required degree and certification(s) must accompany application.
EXPERIENCE 3 years current clinical work experience in a health care setting required.
Experience in a classroom and clinical skills instruction preferred.
Knowledge of course content, as evidenced by education and/or experience, effective in directing and evaluating student learning and laboratory performance and be prepared in educational theory and technique.
Able to create lesson plans, course outlines and student performance evaluations.
