Job Description: General Description of
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaches four sections of 5th Grade Mathematics and one section of Bible as a member of the elementary teaching team. The teacher implements the Jupiter Christian School math curriculum aligned with B.E.S.T. Math Standards, integrates a biblical worldview into all instruction, and fosters a positive learning environment that reflects academic excellence and spiritual growth. Instruction emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and hands-on engagement connected to real-world and STEM applications.
Essential Job Requirements
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports academic excellence and spiritual growth.
- Integrate biblical worldview principles into instruction, helping students recognize God’s order and purpose in mathematical design.
- Deliver rigorous and engaging instruction across four sections of 5th Grade Math.
- Serve as a homeroom teacher and provide spiritual, emotional, and academic guidance to students.
- Implement curriculum aligned to B.E.S.T.
- Math Standards while differentiating instruction to meet a range of learning levels.
- Assess student understanding through formative and summative methods and adjust instruction as needed.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues on progress, goals, and growth.
- Demonstrate proficiency in educational technology, using digital tools to enhance instruction and assessment (e.g., interactive math platforms, Office 365).
- Incorporate project-based and problem-solving activities that connect math to real-life and STEM contexts.
- Collaborate with grade-level and department colleagues to align learning outcomes and instructional strategies.
- Maintain accurate and organized records for grades, attendance, and classroom resources.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and assigned duties.
- Attend key school events such as Curriculum Night, Open House, and Parent Conferences.
- Serve as a chaperone or advisor for school activities (e.g., REACH, retreats, house events, or field trips).
- Participate in the JCS “Plus-One” initiative by sponsoring or supporting a co-curricular or extracurricular student activity annually.
Qualifications
Spiritual A clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Active membership and participation in an evangelical Christian church.
Education
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or Elementary Mathematics Education.
Preferred
Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or Curriculum and Instruction. Experience
Required
Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience.
Preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching upper elementary math.
