General Information
JMU Talent Development (TD) is seeking a dependable, proactive and hospitable undergraduate from any major who will assist the Talent Development team in genuine training room hospitality.
Duties: and Responsibilities:
The Assistant will help with Talent Development’s mission to grow the talents of JMU's employees, primarily by supporting workshops. This includes providing room setup and turnaround, greeting participants, giving opening announcements, and preparing administrative tasks associated with training workshops, including printing handouts, room signage, and setting up materials.
Additional duties will be assigned as needed, including phone support for the department, assisting with marketing efforts, research, and proofreading. Outstanding initiative in customer service for all customers, as well as strong communication skills, are necessary.
The Assistant may also have opportunities to contribute to other projects based on their specific strengths and abilities. These can include digital graphics, organizing, creating systems, and record keeping.
For this summer position, the hours are 8
00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding any holidays that campus is closed.
Qualifications
Requirements
include a general, teachable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks while maintaining attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. This person should demonstrate a high degree of customer service, practice of initiative and professionalism, as well as the ability to work well with people from all staffing levels. Having a developing knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite would be helpful, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
Reliability and dependability are key.
