Job Description

Anu is hiring a full-time Adult/Youth Trauma Counselor to meet with children and adults who have experienced trauma and/or attachment disruptions, to help them meet their self-identified goals related to recovery from trauma and resulting pain-based behaviors. The worker will travel in Dane County and the surrounding area to meet with clients. Staff must reside within Dane County to be eligible for this position. This worker will: Provide psychoeducation and psychotherapy to children and adults referred by CCS (Comprehensive Community Services) in their home, school, or other community-based settings. Form trusting relationships, primarily with clients and relevant family members, as well as with team members. Provide psychoeducation about trauma and attachment disruptions, normalizing experiences, i.e., ‘It’s not what's wrong with you, it’s what happened to you’. Model and teach emotional regulation skills. Work effectively as part of a Wraparound or Recovery Team to assist clients in leading a more self-directed recovery journey. This position requires that the ideal candidate will have excellent self-awareness, excellent communication skills, a strong ability to work independently and build relationships, significant computer skills, attention to detail; and the drive and passion to patiently and creatively help clients heal from the effects of trauma, even while understanding that those effects may make the client push away the very people who want to help the most.
