Job description

Purpose and Scope During Summer School serves as liaison between District staff and students or parents whose primary spoken language is one other language than English. Provides academic assistance to students in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Interprets for students, parents, and teachers.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or directly relevant experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position for a total of two (2) years. Relevant training and experience is defined as one (1) year or more of experience in translating and/or mentoring; experience and training in working with students in an instructional environment, preferably within a bilingual setting. The following special conditions are required: Commitment for the entire period of Summer School. Attendance at ALL periodic administrative meetings. Availability prior to the end of the regular school assignment to participate in Summer School setup and preparation. Availability for Summer School closeout operations. This position is for SUMMER SCHOOL ONLY.
