- The Health Services Nurse provides professional health care to students and coordinates continued health care with allied healthcare professionals.
- Applies appropriate theory from nursing and associated areas to meet and uphold the school's mission statement.
- Uses a systematic approach to problem-solving in nursing practice.
- Contributes to the education of students with and without special needs by continuous assessment of the student, planning and providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating outcomes of care.
- Uses effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Maintains a comprehensive school health program as established by the Director of Health & Wellness.
- Assists students, families, and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education.
- Promotes quality of care, pursues continued professional enhancement, and demonstrates professional conduct.
Requirements
· Graduate from an Accredited Nursing Program · Current Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license within the state of Massachusetts · Current BLS certification with updates annually · Experience in the triage process and outpatient health setting · Ability to communicate well with students, parents, and fellow professionals · Keen analytical skills and a detail-oriented work style · Clinical experience with adolescent health preferred
