About this position

  • SI Leader I (OMS-II students leading OMS-I courses
  • SI Leaders will be responsible for the following during the duration of the course they are assigned to:
  • Facilitate SI Sessions, which last 1 hour, the week before each exam for the course that the SI Leader is chosen to lead.
  • Facilitate Exam Preparation Sessions, which last 2 hours, the week before each exam for the course the SI Leader is chosen to lead. Preferably, the Exam Preparation sessions will be divided between the SI Leaders on each campus (there will only be one Exam Prep session before each exam for both campuses).
  • Prepare for each SI Session and Exam Preparation

Session

  • SI Sessions - SI Leaders will be paid for up to two hours of preparation time for each SI session. During this preparation time, the SI Leader will be responsible for preparing active learning activities to review high-yield content.
  • Exam Prep Sessions - SI Leaders will be paid for up to eight hours of preparation time for each Exam Preparation Session. If the Exam Preparation Session is split between the Tulsa and Tahlequah SI Leaders, the eight hours of preparation time will be divided evenly between the SI Leaders. For example, each leader would submit and be paid for four hours of preparation time. During this preparation time, SI Leaders will be responsible for creating a slideshow with review content, writing practice questions, and finding relevant questions from TrueLearn, among other tasks.
  • Attend meetings with OAS staff, course faculty, and other Supplemental Instruction Program staff as needed to help develop lesson plans for SI Sessions and Exam Preparation Sessions.
  • SI Leaders will typically work 10 hours during the week before each exam for the course they are leading for the duration of the course, based on the course schedule and the schedule of SI activities (SI Sessions and Exam Preparation Sessions) developed by the Office of Academic Success.

  • Current OSU-COM OMS-II student (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Previous tutoring or SI experience is helpful but not required

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses

• Previously passed all required medical school pre-clinical courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge
