The Teacher's Assistant organizes and supervises students in all settings, assists with de-escalation, arrival/dismissal, and supports students with various curriculum tasks. This role also involves aiding physically handicapped children and participating in emergency drills and staff training.
Hampton Academy provides individualized, trauma-focused support and education for children and adolescents ages 6 and older. Our educational program is designed for students who suffer from anxiety, school avoidance, poor social skills, mood disorders and other socio-emotional concerns that interrupt their ability to fully function in a traditional academic setting. Hampton Academy helps students with attaining their goal of returning back to their sending district.
High School Diploma required; Associate, Bachelor’s degree and/or college level coursework in education related field preferred; One to three years experience working with special needs children at the middle/high school level (preferably Emotionally Disturbed or Multiple Disabled); Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff; Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices; Criminal history check and proof of authorization to work in this country required prior to employment.
