Our Client, FRIENDS OF ST. FRANCIS CHILDCARE CENTER is hiring! About Friends of St. Francis Friends of St. Francis is a 501(c) (3) organization celebrating 36 years of providing quality childcare and family support services in San Francisco.

Purpose

To be part of the classroom teaching team to implement a caring, educational program for children ages 3-5 years.

Minimum Qualifications

Have competed 24 ECE or Child Development (CD) Units, including core courses (child/human growth and development; child/family/community AND curriculum) PLUS 16 General Education Units (including one course in each of four general education categories, which are degree applicable: English/Language Arts; Math or Science; Social Sciences; Humanities and/or Fine Arts) OR AA or higher in EDE/CD or related field with 3 units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting. Holds, is eligible for Associate Teacher Permit , Teacher permit preferred, from the CCTC. Willingness to continue professional growth Have Fingerprints clearance through Department of Justice for Child Abuse Index Check and Criminal Record Statement. Able to speak, read, and write in English Have knowledge of and sensitivity to the cultural background of the children and families being served. Able to relate to children and adults in a positive, respectful manner. Able to lift 20 to 40 pounds Able to work with a staff of varying educational and experiential backgrounds with sensitive leadership, maturity, and stability. Have working knowledge of CLASS, ECERS, DRDPs, Pyramid/CSEFEL Teaching Model. Roles and Responsibilities: Use Professional ethics of confidentiality, discretion and good judgment. Provide individualized and small group instruction and adapt the curriculum to the needs and interests of each child. Teach children in ways that promote respect, friendship and safety and scaffold the activities to promote children’s growth. Develop documentation of children’s work to make it visible for parents, children, and staff Participate in notifying parents via the newsletter, handouts and in person about parent seminars and family events Conduct bi-annual parent conferences and DRDP assessments Utilize observations and input from professional screening services to identify children with special needs and collaborate in obtaining relevant services Leadership and Supervision: Maintain open communication with other teaching staff to always support visual access to children. Utilize reflective thinking with all staff so that adaptations and strategies to meet various needs can be jointly developed. Assist in creating a warm, nurturing, and respectful atmosphere for the children, staff and families. Meet with Program Director and/or Site Supervisor routinely to share observations and plan curriculum and personal professional growth Communication: Work cooperatively with parents, staff and third party consultants to meet the individual needs of children and their families Maintain positive communication regarding FOSF to parents, children, other staff members, and the surrounding community. Meet regularly with administration, parents, teachers, and others regarding the developmental progress of children. Program Administration: Maintain appropriate documentation on all children in the group assigned Report all injuries and other health concerns to the administration, and be trained to administer pediatric first aid when necessary, and as mandated by state law, report any suspected child abuse.
