Overview

Provides supervision and instruction to children in early childhood classroom. Develops and implements lesson plans and daily schedules; maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation guidelines; assesses children's learning and development, and coordinates services and communicates regularly with families.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT One-year certificate from college or technical school in Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or a Certificate of Mastery in Early Childhood Education or the equivalent amount of college hours in Early Childhood Development/Human and Family Sciences.
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional one (1) year of related experience is required.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing software.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must obtain within one month of employment a physical and TB test and maintain the physical annually thereafter.
  • Must obtain Entry Level Child Care Training (ELECT) training within 90 days of employment.
  • Additional specialized training may be required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report.
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate, use a computer and solve challenging problems with children and parents.
  • Must be able to direct the work of others.
  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA); or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report; or listed on the GSA's List of Excluded Providers; or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
