Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct swimmers of all ages and abilities using established curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Assess student progress, provide feedback, and adapt lessons to individual needs.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by following proper safety protocols and pool rules.
  • Maintain constant supervision of swimmers during lessons and respond promptly to any emergencies.
  • Prepare and organize equipment before lessons and ensure cleanliness and proper storage afterward.
  • Communicate effectively with students and/or parents regarding progress, schedules, and concerns.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere to build confidence and motivate students.
  • Keep accurate attendance records and track progress for each swimmer.
  • Collaborate with other instructors, lifeguards, and facility staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a swim instructor or competitive swimmer (preferred).
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding (Red Cross or equivalent).
  • Swim Instructor Certification (WSI – Water Safety Instructor or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various strokes and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, enthusiastic, and able to motivate learners.
  • Ability to work with children, teens, and adults in both group and one-on-one settings.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in indoor or outdoor pool environments.
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing, swimming, and exposure to water and pool chemicals.
