About the role

The Classroom Aide is responsible for supervising and supporting an assigned student throughout the school day, assisting with daily living activities and facilitating participation in learning activities. They will implement behavior support plans and provide prompting for skill completion.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses.

Located in Mount Kisco, NY, this position is responsible for the supervision and support of an assigned student in the education program.

They will supervise one student across the entire school day in all instructional and leisure activities while the student is present in the school building.

They will provide assistance for their assigned student in completing activities of daily living, including toileting, menstrual care (for females), and other self care activities if appropriate for that student.

The 1:1 Aide will facilitate student's participation in small group or individual learning activities.

They will provide prompting for completion of new skills and practice on maintained or generalized skills.

They will also implement behavior support plans as appropriate for their assigned student.

Qualifications

To qualify, we require our One to One Aides to: Have a HS diploma/GED with one years of related experience. Bachelor degree or Associates degree with one (1) year of related experience preferred. Have a valid NY Drivers License. Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs. Physical Requirements: Pre-employment physical required. Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required. Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes. Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. Good manual dexterity. Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization. Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and one year of related experience, with a preference for those holding a bachelor's or associate degree. A valid NY driver's license and a passion for working with individuals with special needs are also required.
