  • Join the YMCA of Greater Kansas City as an After School Youth Leader at Holy Spirit Elementary and help elementary-aged children learn, grow, and thrive after the school day ends.
  • In this role, you’ll create a fun, safe, and supportive environment through games, crafts, sports, homework help, and enrichment activities.
  • This is a great fit for college students, substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, retirees, and anyone exploring careers in education, psychology, counseling, or youth development.
  • Enjoy a consistent Monday–Friday 3:00–6:00 PM schedule, no nights or weekends, a fun team environment, and a free YMCA membership.
  • Additional substitute shifts may be available for associates looking for extra hours.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do Lead games, crafts, sports, and enrichment activities for elementary-aged children Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging after school environment Support homework time, social development, and positive behavior Build positive relationships with children, families, and school staff Follow YMCA safety, attendance, and child supervision standards Help create a positive, structured end to each child’s school day Youth Development Leaders also provide direct supervision in leading a group of children on their own. Qualifications

Youth Assistant Job Qualifications: Minimum age of 16. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions. Active engagement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability. Ability to work with others in a team environment. Youth Leader Job Additional Qualifications Minimum age of 18. High school diploma or equivalent required at Kansas sites. Previous experience working with school age children preferred (may include working as a babysitter, nanny or other childcare program).
