Job description
Description The J’s basketball program emphasizes fun, safety and convenience and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Our Pre-K (Jump Start Program) coaches play a pivotal role in creating these positive and developmentally appropriate environments for our youngest players. Experience as a coach/player/referee is preferred, but not mandatory.
Schedule We are hiring reliable part-time staff to assist with practices and coach games for our Summer Jump Start Basketball program. The summer season is from June 14th-July 26th. The program meets every Sunday during these dates from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
Essential Functions Coach basketball practices and games for ages 4-5 Teach basic basketball skills using age-appropriate equipment and progressions Supervise children ages 4 to 5 years old Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth session flow Pay & Benefits Free Individual Membership to The J $18/per 1 hour session (1-3 sessions every Sunday)
Requirements
Experience working with young children (ages 3-6) preferred Experience as a coach/referee/player is preferred Knowledge of basketball and its rules Ability to create an engaging and energetic environment Able to work Sundays from 12pm-3pm Must have reliable transportation Physical Requirements Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials Frequent standing, walking and eye/hand/foot coordination as well as exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills About The J The J is committed to creating a diverse environment.
