Job description

Position Details

ReNEW Schools is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join several campuses in New Orleans. The OT will provide direct and consultative services to students with disabilities, helping them access the general education curriculum, build functional school-based skills, and thrive in a rigorous academic environment. This position does travel to various sites throughout the city.

Who We Are

At ReNEW Schools, we transform underperforming schools into high-achieving, inclusive institutions that prepare students for high school, college, and career success. We emphasize professional growth, individualized coaching, and a whole-child approach to learning. WHAT YOU’LL DO Provide evaluations, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual and group occupational therapy interventions aligned with students’ IEP goals and needs. Obtain and track physician orders as required for billing purposes. Deliver evidence-based fine motor, sensory-motor, executive functioning, and daily living skill services to help students access the curriculum and participate meaningfully in school routines. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, other related service providers, and administrators to embed accommodations, strategies, and supports into classroom instruction and school environments. Monitor student progress, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and use insights to adjust interventions and supports. Participate in IEP meetings, develop goals in partnership with the IEP team, schedule and lead review meetings, and engage families and service providers. Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and internal systems. Provide professional development and coaching to staff on OT-related strategies (e.g., sensory supports, fine motor scaffolds, assistive technology) and contribute to the inclusive culture of the school. Support the school’s mission by modeling a growth mindset, fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment, and continuously improving practice. WHAT YOU’LL BRING Required Qualifications: Master’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current Louisiana licensure as an Occupational Therapist. Experience working with school-aged children (elementary and/or middle school) in a school or pediatric setting. Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development and implementation, documentation compliance, and familiarity with school-based service delivery models. Strong technology proficiency (e.g., Google Suite, documentation systems, data tracking) and strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Two or more years of experience in a school-based occupational therapy role. Experience with assistive technology, adaptive equipment, sensory curricula, and integrating OT strategies into general education classrooms. Demonstrated ability to coach staff, collaborate across service providers, and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture. WHY JOIN US Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a growing charter school network committed to equity and excellence. Professional development, coaching support, and growth opportunities aligned with our mission. Competitive salary and benefits package (health, dental, vision, retirement).
