  • Schedule: 0.125 FTE The Department of Music at Carleton College invites applications for a position (0.125 FTE, non-tenure-track) as part-time Instructor of Flute beginning September 1, 2026. The primary teaching activity involves private lessons in flute, approximately 2.5-4.0 hours per week; Carleton’s classes are taught on a schedule of three 10-week terms per year. We seek a dynamic teacher and performer with an understanding of, and commitment to, teaching music performance in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. The successful applicant will hold, at minimum, a Master’s degree in music or commensurate experience as a performer and educator. The primary teaching activity involves weekly, private lessons in Flute, as well as instruction in Piccolo, depending upon student needs. Additional teaching opportunities may include coaching ensemble sectionals and/or small student ensembles. We are particularly interested in candidates committed to teaching a diverse student body.
