Instructional Assistant - Special Education, Occupational Course of Study

The instructional assistant provides support for special education students by assisting teachers with instructional programs, behavioral intervention plans, and classroom activities. They also facilitate student transitions, maintain required records, and provide personal care or mobility assistance as needed.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or ged and be working toward an associate's degree or cda credential, or meet essa requirements with relevant coursework or experience. A crisis prevention and intervention (Cpi) certification is required, and experience working with individuals with special needs is necessary.
