Job Description

Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking for a 5th Grade Elementary Teacher to join our Elementary Team for the 2026-2027 school year. Responsibilities While under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the school’s instructional program in a learning environment that motivates and guides students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Support BFCS Vision, Mission, and Goals. Promote and adhere to BFCS policies and procedures. Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic excellence. Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior. Provide direct instruction using a Back-to-Basics curriculum including Spalding (reading & writing), Saxon Math, Science, and Social Studies. Prepare and follow lesson plans correlated with the prescribed curriculum and pacing guides. Communicate learning objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language. Monitor and assess student progress; provide ongoing feedback to students and parents. Use classroom and state assessment data to inform and improve instruction. Participate in team reviews concerning students’ academic progress. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis to discuss students’ progress and interpret the instructional program. Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy. Reflect on teaching practices and strive to improve professional competence. Assume responsibility for meeting classroom and school-wide student performance goals. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required. Participate in curriculum development programs as required. Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
