What You’ll Do

As a French Immersion Teacher, you will create a safe, engaging, and linguistically rich learning environment. You will lead classroom instruction, student supervision, preparation of materials, and individualized student support, all while modeling French language use.

Core Responsibilities

Lead instruction in a French Immersion classroom (K–5). Model and encourage the use of spoken and written French throughout the school day. Plan and implement large and small group or one-on-one instruction in both academic and enrichment settings. Prepare classroom materials and organize learning activities. Supervise students during classroom transitions that may include lunch, recess, and school events Foster a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate that supports all learners. Reinforce behavioral expectations and school norms positively and consistently. Collaborate with teachers and staff to meet individual student needs. Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families (in French or English as appropriate). Teachers will actively prepare students for school events and performances. Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development sessions. Provide continuous student assessment, mid-year and end-of-year progress reports, and hold parent-teacher conferences twice a year. For students with identified needs, participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports evaluations. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required: French fluency at the following level: Native or ILR (4+)/CEFR (C2) level/ STAMP Advanced High Francophone cultural influence US Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent verified by approved NACES member 1-3 years elementary or middle school teaching experience, depending on applied for grade level or experience in a language immersion educational environment (2 years required for visa sponsorship) Authorized to work in US or qualify to obtain a J-1 Visa if needed Meet applicable fingerprinting and background check requirements Preferred: Native French speaker Master’s Degree from Francophone Ministry of Education 3+ years language immersion teaching experience in elementary or middle school, depending on applied for grade level Hold Francophone Ministry of Education Certification
