Transition program facilitator/ Instructor

The Arc Westchester, a leading non-profit agency serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is seeking a Transition Program Facilitator/Instructor to serve as the program instructor for the curriculum-based services offered within the Transition Academy, including but not limited to Prep4Success, Employment Connection and Project SEARCH Autism Enhancement.

Note

if you are interested in a career in Special Education this position provides valuable hands-on experience and develops your teaching skills by providing lessons to individuals with developmental disabilities in our Transition Program.

  • Job responsibilities
  • Planning, developing, evaluating, and implementing curriculum, lessons plans and managing the learning environment.
  • The Transition Academy Facilitator will utilize technology while executing curriculum, teaching program participants, and for data collection.
  • Implementing activities for social, technology, employment/career development and independent living skills.
  • Assist individuals in learning new skills in socialization, independent living, technology and apps, career and employment, emotional regulation and behavior, and self-care.
  • Support each individual to participate, communicate and thrive in the program.
  • Job requirements
  • Requires a High School Diploma, some college preferred.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or young adults with IDD and families.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license.
  • Ability to provide instruction, support and guidance when implementing activities.
  • Ability to use multiple types of technology, including smart board, mobile devices, iPad, goggle drive, google slides, chrome books, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function as a self-started and problem solving.
