Job Description

The Children’s School for Early Development is actively recruiting for various support positions in our self-contained (SC) ABA classrooms and our Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS) classrooms. Successful candidates will have the following skills: be able to work under the direction of the classroom teacher, self- initiate positive interactions with preschoolers with special needs, function successfully in a busy classroom, be a team player and work successfully with various staff members and related service providers including Occupational, Physical and Speech & Language Therapists, be an active participant in all areas of the classroom. Experience working with young children with special needs a plus, but will train.

Classrooms

Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS) — classroom is comprised of 6 preschoolers with special needs along with typically developing peers.

Self-contained Class (SC) — classroom is comprised of 8 special needs preschoolers.

Positions available: Classroom Aides — provides support to the overall classroom

1:1s — provides support for a particular child throughout the school day

Substitute aides/1

1s — per diem position, various classroom locations may be offered.

All positions have a 25hr work week. Use of a car (or access to dependable public transportation) is required.

These positions follow a school-year calendar from Sept-June and are a wonderful opportunity for parents returning to the work force or those with young children at home; students thinking of a job in the field of special education, or experienced support staff looking to enrich their knowledge and strengthen their skills working with young children.
