About the role

Participants will work up to 20 hours per week in various offices and departments to develop professional skills. Responsibilities vary by placement but focus on career exploration and development.

The Summer Youth Worker position is part of the Teen Summer Employment Program. Participants are matched with local employers and receive career readiness training, mentoring, and ongoing support to develop job skills, explore career pathways, and access resources that support both academic and personal growth. The program offers paid summer employment, with participants working up to 20 hours per week on weekdays. Positions are based in Fitchburg and Leominster MA, depending on placement.

Position Overview

Making Opportunity Count Summer Youth Worker (SYW) position through our Jobs4Youth program is designed to promote career development, exploration, and professionalism skills for young people. The program offers a three-month paid summer employment experience for 14 - 24 years old. There are various offices and departments for SYW. This is temporary work available from June – August.

Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Job responsibilities will differ based on the offices and department where the employee is located
  • The employee will complete up to 20 hours of work per week

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Dependable transportation needed.
  • Must enjoy working with people, demonstrate dedication and communication skills.
  • Must be available to attend pre-summer training and be available to work throughout the summer.
  • Must be age 14 – 24, and must be at least 14 by July 1st.
  • Must provide / or obtain MA work permit if ages 14 – 17.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, use a keyboard, use a telephone and climb stairs
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Compensation

  • A salary within the range of $15.00 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with the MOC compensation philosophy.
