Job description

General purpose

To assist the coaches in daily duties, for the entire day of tennis lessons. The position requires attention to detail, knowledge of basic tennis rules, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
  • Follow instructions given by the tennis coaches.
  • Help bring out and put away tennis equipment (tennis rackets, tennis balls, etc.)
  • Sweep courts before program lessons begin, to maintain a safe and clean playing environment.
  • Report any emergencies, injuries, rule violations, or concerns to the tennis coaches immediately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the tennis coaches.

Minimum qualifications

Education/Experience

• No formal certification required in most cases, though some programs may provide basic training for being a tennis coach/helper.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Basic understanding of tennis rules.
  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn rules for youth tennis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain neutral, confident, and professional during lessons.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move around frequently for extended periods (outdoors), work in varying weather conditions, and occasionally lift light equipment (tennis rackets, tennis balls, etc.)
