Temporary Faculty Pool: College of Health, Human Services and Nursing (CHHSN)

Position Description

The CHHSN at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

College of Health, Human Services and Nursing

  • The College is comprised of undergraduate programs in Child Development, Clinical Sciences, Public Health and Health Sciences, Human Services, Kinesiology, and Nursing (RN-BSN).
  • The College also offers professional graduate degrees in Marital and Family Therapy (MFT), Social Work (MSW), Occupational Therapy (Master and Doctorate OT), Nursing (MSN), Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P), and Radiologic Imaging Sciences (RIS).
  • Additionally, we provide postbaccalaureate certificates in cytotechnology and medical technology, as well as a communication sciences and disorders (CSD) certificate as a bridge program to speech pathology graduate degrees.
  • We are dedicated to increasing the diversity of our student population and encouraging high schoolers and community college transfers to pursue health professions.
  • The college offers various pathways to careers in Human Services, Nursing, Medical Technology, Exercise Science, Radiologic Imaging, and many more.

The Position

We are seeking dynamic, positive, and contributive colleagues with a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of teaching experience and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with learners of all ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Candidates should possess excellent communication and writing skills, initiative, and resourcefulness.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

  • Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum and hold office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in a field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level in a closely related field relevant to the curriculum.

Employment Requirement

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Additional Information

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2022, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A

  • $5,507 - $ 6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211

A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees, which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate’s, Doctor’s of Philosophy). Education Code 89521 Requirements
