Guardian Christian Academy - NORTH CHESTERFIELD, VA 23832 Summary of Position Guardian Christian Academy is a dually accredited (ACSI, Cognia) school seeking educational professionals with a heart for Jesus and developing students through Christ centered education. Teachers must implement instructional strategies in line with the guidelines established by the GCA student and faculty handbooks. Instruction must be taught from a Biblical perspective using the approved curriculum provided by GCA. Personal Qualities Demonstrate a clear testimony of salvation through Jesus Christ and maintain a consistent daily walk with Him Be able to confidently share the Gospel and pray with students, parents, and colleagues Fully support and uphold GCA’s Mission, Vision, Statement of Faith, and philosophy of Christian education Serve as a Christian role model in behavior, speech, character, and lifestyle, honoring biblical standards Be an active member in a local evangelical church whose doctrinal statement aligns with that of GCA Demonstrate faithfulness in spiritual disciplines such as scripture study, prayer, and Christian fellowship Model unity in the Body of Christ while allowing denominational distinctives to remain personal Exhibit spiritual maturity, strong character, and leadership consistent with the call to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6) Recognize parents as the primary educators of their children and serve as a supportive partner in their God-given role Demonstrate enthusiasm, humility, integrity, flexibility, kindness, and professionalism Respond to stress and challenges with grace, stability, and wisdom Model modesty, cleanliness, and professionalism in appearance and behavior Prioritize the teaching ministry above outside employment or commitments Value and contribute to the unity and culture of the GCA community Essential Job Functions Uphold and reflect the mission of the school by honoring Christ in all instruction and activities Encourage students toward spiritual growth and guide them to understand their identity and worth in Christ Practice biblical conflict resolution, following the Matthew 18 principle – if a conflict arises it is to be brought to the attention of the individual directly involved. If unresolved, the issue follows the chain of conflict resolution as detailed in the GCA faculty handbook. All conflict resolutions begin between the parties involved. Responsibilities Include Developing engaging lesson plans for each course that is assigned Grading assignments based on established timelines Maintaining a safe, neat and professional classroom environment Planning field trips to support curriculum Participation in student spiritual formation activities including but not limited to small groups, chapels, Spiritual Emphasis Week, etc. Upholding classroom management standards as outlined by school policy Collaborating with fellow staff members to fulfill the academic and educational goals set by GCA Attend weekly staff meetings and required professional development Practice biblical conflict resolution, following the Matthew 18 principle – if a conflict arises it is to be brought to the attention of the individual directly involved. If unresolved, the issue follows the chain of conflict resolution as detailed in the GCA faculty handbook. All conflict resolutions begin between the parties involved. Understand that teachers are mandated reporters by Virginia State Law and therefore must abide by all regulations set by Virginia State Law. Foster positive relationships with students and families; partnering with parents in a shared commitment to student growth. Professional Requirements Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in teaching or relevant field and/or hold a valid Virginia State Teaching License A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience or student teaching Teachers must be a demonstrated content area expert for the subject area that they are applying for Must possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills Must possess knowledge of child development stages for assigned grade levels as well as teaching methodology Spiritual Requirements Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and have formed a daily relationship with Him Be able to share the gospel and pray with a student or parent with ease and confidence Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school’s mission, vision and statement of faith Serve as a Christian role model in behavior, speech, character and lifestyle, honoring biblical standards Be an active member in a local evangelical church whose doctrinal statement aligns with that of GCA Additional Requirements Supervise and support extracurricular activities Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration
