The Accountabilities of an External Substitute Teacher Assistant Include

  • Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development
  • Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
  • Assist children with activities of daily life (e.g., diapering/restroom use, feeding, dressing)
  • Help facilitate daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for preschoolers
  • Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
  • Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing curriculum and planning daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children
  • Communicate with the Lead Teacher regarding all aspects of the children’s care as well as classroom management
  • Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times

The tools you need

  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Child Development Associate or Early Childhood Education credits preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience and Dedication to be able to work with young children.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Clear, pleasant and courteous communicator, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an effective multi-disciplinary team member

Expectations of an External Substitute

  • Flexibility to work between the hours of 7am to 6pm, Monday thru Friday
  • Flexibility to work at our Drummond Road Location
  • Ability to work a minimum of 24 hours a month

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED with a preference for CDA or Early Childhood Education credits. Candidates must be dedicated to working with young children and available for at least 24 hours per month.
