Job description

Description Eliada Homes, a historical fixture within Western North Carolina since 1903, is one Asheville's longest running nonprofits. Our beautiful 300+ acre campus provides a cradle to career continuum of services for over 600 children and youth annually. Child Development staff work with children up to 5 years of age providing them with services which focus on social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development while integrating life-skills into our daily activities and lessons.

The Early Childhood Teacher Assistant supports operations, classrooms, children, and teachers through the implementation of activity plans, record keeping, care and supervision of children in the classroom, and communicating with parents and administrative staff.

What you'll be doing

Support lead teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate activity plans that meet current standards. Contribute to meeting children’s physical, emotional, and educational needs through close supervision, frequent one-on-one interactions, group engagement, and communication with families and staff. Help maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date classroom records and documentation. Restock classroom materials and supplies from the resource room to ensure an adequate learning environment. Partner with lead teachers to uphold licensing, safety, and sanitation standards in the classroom. Provide orientation and guidance for substitute teachers regarding classroom functions and daily routines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Must have Early Childhood credentials, enrolled in Early Childhood courses, and 6 additional credit hours of Early Childhood Education.
