(CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities. (For more information, please visit: https://www.cpc-nyc.org/) PROGRAM SUMMARY Since 1998, CPC Adult Literacy Program has provided thousands of community members with free, high-quality English-language instruction in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. Through our program, community members gain practical, everyday English skills that are critical to a better quality of life in New York City. Other program supports include community education workshops and citizenship test preparation. JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Program Director, the full-time Counseling Specialist should have excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, be collaborative, and be interested in working to improve the quality of life for our community members. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Work with students to identify personal goals, strengths, and create pathways towards success; document these student assessments into required paper formats and funder databases Communicate with students through phone calls, emails, and WeChat to navigate students needs, questions, follow-ups, appointments, and additional support Conduct and document follow-up assessments with students post-completion of classes Support administrative team with internal data management, filing, maintaining program records, scheduling make-up sessions, and communicating with instructors Attend all meetings and training as required Support the Adult Literacy Program and CPC with ongoing advocacy efforts
