- FUNCTIONS: Provide leadership and guidance for a summer camp group and staff. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. Assists children in daily needs, such as washing hands, restroom use, tracking belongings, etc. Attends staff meetings and trainings. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, drop-off/pick procedures, supervision, incident reports, accurate head counts, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned.
- QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred. Two to three years camp or related experience and relevant experience in supervision and administration of camp or youth programs preferred.
- Experience preferred in several of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc. Minimum age of 18. CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen completed within 60 days. Ability to complete Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment and Child Abuse Prevention training before start of 1st shift. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 35lbs at a time.
