Position Summary
Northampton Community College invites qualified applicants to serve as Adjunct Faculty in the Respiratory Care Program. The adjunct faculty member supports the mission of NCC by delivering high-quality instruction and supervision to Respiratory Care students in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical settings. Adjunct faculty contributes to student learning by reinforcing cognitive, psychomotor, and affective competencies aligned with CoARC accreditation standards, NCC academic policies, and Respiratory Care Program outcomes. Assignments are part-time and based on program needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Provide instruction in assigned Respiratory Care courses, which may include didactic, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical education. · Facilitate student mastery of Respiratory Care knowledge and skills using evidence-based teaching strategies and current professional standards. · Supervise and evaluate student performance in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. · Provide timely feedback, coaching, and remediation to support student success. · Maintain accurate student records including attendance, competencies, evaluations, and grades in accordance with NCC and program policies. · Communicate student progress, concerns, and recommendations to the Program Director and/or Director of Clinical Education. · Ensure compliance with CoARC Standards, clinical affiliate requirements, and NCC institutional policies. · Demonstrate professionalism, ethical practice, and respect for a diverse student population. · Participate in program meetings, orientation sessions, and required professional development activities as assigned. · Utilize the College’s learning management system and instructional technology to support teaching and learning. Minimum Qualifications · Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). · Current Pennsylvania Respiratory Care Practitioner license in good standing. · Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. · Associate or bachelor’s degree in respiratory care or a closely related field (bachelor’s degree preferred depending on course assignment). · Experience serving as a clinical instructor, preceptor, or educator for students in a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program. · Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications · Prior teaching experience in a community college or higher education setting. · Experience with skills laboratory instruction and/or simulation-based education. · Familiarity with instructional technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard). · Demonstrated commitment to student success, diversity, and the community college mission.
