Special Education Teacher

The special education teacher is responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (Ieps) while monitoring student progress toward instructional goals. They also maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment and collaborate with staff and parents to support student academic and behavioral needs.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in education or a related field and possess a valid virginia state teaching license with a special education endorsement. Effective communication skills and the ability to pass a criminal justice background check and fingerprinting are also required.
