- Category: EducationJOB SUMMARY This position will serve as a classroom teacher to facilitate each child’s growth in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development with age-appropriate activities. This position will also participate in the planning, development, and implementation of program goals. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Create a nurturing, learning environment for children to facilitate the development of fundamental skills, including social interaction, motor skills, language, and cognitive development. Assist with the development of lesson plans based on the children’s needs and interests. Utilize play-based activities to teach children. Assist with the assessments of individual children. Participate in community outreach activities as necessary to maintain appropriate children enrollment. Maintain clear communication with teaching staff regarding each child’s development and the program. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Knowledge of child learning environments. High level of professionalism, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining a necessary degree of confidentiality. Ability to work in culturally and racially diverse populations and in lower socio-economic conditions. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards. Ability to build productive working relationships. Ability to determine the course of action based on guidelines and to modify processes and methods as needed. Ability to pleasantly and effectively represent the organization. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Completed 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, which includes at least one course in each of the following: child, family, community, and child/family relations. 1 year of related experience. CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE / LANGUAGE Child Development Associate Teacher’s Permit or in the process of obtaining it. Must provide proof of required vaccinations by federal, state, and local funding sources. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. BLS/CPR certification preferred. Employees driving personal vehicles for El Proyecto business must provide El Proyecto proof of a valid driving license, and auto liability insurance. El Proyecto will reimburse employees for their mileage at the current rate set by the Internal Revenue Service. To receive mileage reimbursement, the employee must log their mileage and submit the mileage expense report to their Appropriate Administrator.
