Interventionists will provide individualized intervention to small groups of students to increase student achievement. They will deliver reading instruction, implement tutoring curriculum, and monitor student progress using assessment data.

New Paradigm For Education (NPFE) is a non-profit Charter Management Organization (CMO) composed of educational practitioners, community advocates, and business leaders who have dedicated years of service to children. NPFE serves 2,100 students in Detroit, Michigan. We specialize in maximizing student learning potential through proven education practices and managing all phases of school design, planning, and program implementation.

New Paradigm for Education seeks educators who have a relentless belief that all students, regardless of their race and economic or social circumstances, can perform at high levels, deserve a quality education, have access to high quality instruction and curriculum, and can attain post secondary success. Educators who are driven bv academic achievement, continuous growth, and excel working in a rigorous and supportive environment. We seek culturally responsive educators who have experience working with diverse communities and strong relationship-building skills that they apply to understand their students, families, and communities.

What You’ll Do

NPFE seeks interventionists to provide individualized intervention to small groups of students in a targeted effort to increase student achievement. Interventionists will deliver reading instruction and implement our tutoring curriculum. The interventionist must be able to lesson plan, manage a classroom, and deliver instruction. S/he must also be able to monitor data from assessments and create reports.

  • Must be a certified teacher and have a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate to teach elementary students (PreK-3, 3-6, K-5, etc.)
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in elementary education
  • Prior experience working with school age children required; classroom experience highly preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Write and implement lesson plans grounded in reading curriculum
  • Regularly incorporate constructive feedback into instructional practices and lesson delivery
  • Use data to monitor student progress and drive instructional choices
  • Work in teams to plan, problem solve, and support fellow instructional staff
  • Keep a consistent pulse on intervention data, putting together reports and recommending and implementing course adjustments as needed
  • Use data to monitor student progress and drive instructional choices
  • Solicit and utilize constructive feedback received from administrators and instructional coaches
  • Develop family-school relationships that foster the academic and social development of the child
  • Encourage parents/guardians to participate in the daily life of the school and reach out to families in their homes through training, parent nights, conferences, and telephone contact and through technology
  • Establish connections and relationships among their students and the larger community that support the academic and social development of the child and contribute to achievement of overall school goals

Candidates must hold valid certification to receive pay within the posted salary range. Those who are actively pursuing certification may be considered for a similar role within an adjusted salary range.

Requirements

Candidates must be certified teachers with a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and possess a Bachelor's degree, preferably in elementary education. Prior experience working with school-age children is required, with classroom experience highly preferred.
