Job description

Position Title

Safety & Support Monitor - Elementary (SSM) Division: Leadership Services Reports To: Principal and District Safety & Security Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Schedule: Hourly Work Days: School Hours, 190 Days

Essential Duties

1. Work with other school personnel to assist students in the development of techniques to regulate and manage emotions, encourage positive student behavior, and promote safety in the school. 2. Maintain an ongoing review of the physical security of the assigned school location. 3. Assist building administrators with the continuous monitoring of the school campus. 4. Assist with the supervision of students during transitions in the hallways, meeting the expectations of school administrators. 5. Alert building administrators of any safety and security concerns throughout the school day. 6. Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior. 7. Assist students in examining misbehavior and developing strategies to prevent reoccurrences. 8. Coordinate, provide, and supervise instructional and behavioral activities for assigned students. 9. Attend and participate in training workshops. 10. Maintain confidentiality of all school information concerning students, staff, and school business. 11. Attend faculty meetings and other meetings as required by school administrator. 12. Demonstrate positive working relationships with the students, building administration team, building staff, and community stakeholders. 13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of a High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required. 2. Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development. 3. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation. 4. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. 5. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. 6. Ability to be present at the physical worksite. 7. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. 8. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. 9. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations. 10. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
