Athletic Trainer Hourly Job requirements may include but are not limited to
PURPOSE
This hourly position is responsible for delivering the six domains of athletic training (Prevent, Protect, Evaluate, Assess, Rehabilitate, and Counsel) to Bishop O’Dowd’s Athletic Programs on an as needed basis.
Athletic Trainer Hourly Essential Functions
Responsible for the concussion management program for in-season BOD athletic teams.
Responsible for injury evaluation, rehabilitation and monitoring of O’Dowd athletic injuries.
Responsible for the taping, bracing, and padding of athletic-related injuries for O’Dowd athletics.
Responsible for delivering therapeutic modalities to athletic-related injuries for O’Dowd athletics.
Responsible for primary evaluation of all athletic-related injuries for O’Dowd athletics.
Responsible for monitoring, directing and managing ABC’s, CPR, First Aid and other interventions during emergency procedures.
Responsible for the necessary evaluation and referral of all athletic related injuries to the appropriate medical provider.
Maintain confidentiality of documentation.
Athletic trainers will typically be present to provide emergency coverage for on-campus varsity home games. In the event of conflicts the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director’s will determine greatest need.
Responsible for game and event preparation of O’Dowd student-athletes.
Responsible for the medical counseling of athletic-related injuries and inquiries by student-athletes.
Responsible for communication with other medical professionals regarding athletic injuries, rehabilitation, and return to play guidelines.
Responsible for accident reports for injuries received and evaluated during athletic contests covered by the athletic trainer.
Responsible for maintaining national certification by completing the necessary Continuing Education Units (CEU).
Responsible for completing the necessary annual requirements of CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications.
Responsible for maintaining continuous personal liability insurance so that we can provide NCS medical coverage for our athletics teams.
Responsible for communication with coaches on current injury status via injury reports, verbally or text.

Athletic Trainer Hourly Job Qualifications
MANDATORY: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training program and certified by the NATABOC.
Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy; able to evaluate injury and determine treatment.
Maintain accurate and appropriate training records.
Knowledge of CIF, NCS, NATA and NWACC regulations and the use and maintenance of athletic training equipment.
Athletic Trainer - Hourly Job Physical Demands
While performing the duties, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
This position requires the ability to walk for long distances (large venue sites), occasionally run for shorter distances (getting quickly to the site of an injured athlete), and frequent bending and twisting.
Duties will involve moving materials/objects up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, frequent listing/carrying of objects, and lifting up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis, as well as assisting an injured athlete. Medium strength is required to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table.
Manual dexterity and coordination using one or both hands are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.

Busy work environment with numerous interruptions.
Work hours may vary in order to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and/or team schedules.
Exposure to possibly disagreeable conditions due to outdoor weather extremes.
