Job summary

Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic School in University City is seeking a dedicated, creative, and faith‑filled First Grade Teacher to join our vibrant Catholic learning community. The First Grade Teacher is responsible for providing high‑quality instruction that supports students’ academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth while fostering a safe, welcoming, and Christ‑centered classroom environment.

Job responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with diocesan and school curriculum standards.

Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily instruction and classroom routines.

Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment.

Support the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of first‑grade students.

Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments and communicate progress with families.

Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.

Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.

Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.

Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school liturgies, and events.

Supervise students during classroom activities and transitions.

Uphold school policies and actively support the mission of Catholic education.

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Job requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.

Valid teaching certification preferred (or ability to obtain per diocesan requirements).

Prior elementary teaching experience preferred; experience in primary grades a plus.

Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of early elementary curriculum and instructional best practices.

Commitment to student‑centered learning and academic excellence.

Practicing Catholic preferred; must support and respect Catholic teachings and traditions.
